These projects include the perennial beds at the Library, winter holiday decorations in the Library’s 2nd floor reading rooms, the Anderson Rose Garden restoration project at Capron Park, trees donated to Capron Park, the planter at Gilbert Perry Square and activities at the Attleboro Arts Museum’s Flower Show.

In addition to perennials and annuals, there will be a “Garden-themed yard-sale table” and a Master Gardener available to answer horticultural questions.  Mother’s Day is next Sunday – buy Mom some plants for her garden!

And with your help, this will be our best season yet! We are looking for volunteers to bring their enthusiasm and their assistance for a variety of jobs. Whether you come only once or want to become a regular market family member we look forward to seeing you at Finberg Field, 732 Park Street, Attleboro on June 15, 9am – 1pm

We will have the Kindle drawing as well for all who donated items to the food pantry this year. We are also expecting a visit for congressional candidate Joe Kennedy around 11:00 am.

Our farms are harvesting lots of your favorite fall produce out of the fields every day–winter squashes, carrots, potatoes, beets, bunched greens, salad greens, radishes, and of course, bins of brilliant orange pumpkins.

We are also having a farewell party at Scorpio’s immediately folowing market breakdown (Probably around 12:30-1:00) Stop down for lunch and say farewell to vendors, market patrons and volunteers. This is truly a community effort and we would love to have you drop in to say hello!

First Prize “The World” by the Polis family, First Prize Kids “The Farmer” by the Olson family and Judge’s Choice “Frankenstien” by the Finnegan family. “I loved them all,” said Abby Rovaldi, “I only wish everyone could get a prize.”

The pumpkins will be part of the Oak Knoll Spooktackular tonight, Oct. 20, at the Attleboro Springs Wildlife Sanctuary at La Salette Shrine.

. . . and bring them to the Market

Bring those pumpkin creations to the market this Saturday. Abby Rovaldi, Attleboro Arts Museum’s Programs Coordinator and will be the Pumpkin Carving Judge again this year.

1st Place 2011

After the market all the pumpkins will be brought to the Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary to be used in their Spooktacular special event in the evening at the Attleboro Springs Wildlife Sanctuary, this Halloween event will be fun and non-scary. A guide will lead you on a hike through pumpkin lit trails in the new wildlife sanctuary. Visitors will be greeted by forest inhabitants who will share the history of the site and natural history with skits and stories.  

First Prize and a Kids Prize is free admission for 4 to the Spooktacular at Oak Knoll, a bag and a tee shirt (and Netties too).  After the competition the pumpkins will be brought to Oak Knoll to be displayed in the woods during their Spooktacular event.

Here’s how it works: Bring your carved pumpkin to the Farmers Market this week, Oct. 20, before 10 a.m. to be judged at Noon and hopefully win a prize.

The Board of Directors of the Attleboro Farmers Market, Inc. (AFM) is already looking ahead to the 2013 Season. AFM and the City Administration have collaborated to move the Market to Finberg Field, located at the corner of Park Street (Rte. 118) and Bishop Street, across from Bliss Brothers Dairy.

The new location will provide more space for vendors, more parking for visitors at the Market and more flexibility for everyone. We will be kicking off the 2013 season in mid-June and running through the end of October.

AFM will continue to bring the wonderful items that you have come to enjoy each and every Saturday morning with Finberg Field (site pictured below) as our backdrop.
